Rook Shuffle

You're playing way too fast to learn anything substantive from your games.

Try Game in 5/5 or even 10/5.  And get a couple middlegame and endgame books.  John Nunn has two outstanding (roughly 180 page) books on each.

On balance, you made entirely too many "rook shuffles" in the game above.  And most of those rook moves had no rhyme or reason to them, except at the very end.

Good thing your opponent in that game was a dunderhead.

P.S., only 15 of your past 50 games went beyond move 40.  That means there are way too many mistakes being played.  Closely fought games will go 40-60 moves, and sometimes longer.

Actually, I'm reading a middlegame book right now, I just ordered an endgame book, and am currently in the middle of four correspondence games (a few recently finished in the past couple days). I wanted to take a break from the heavy analysis in my readings, and decided to play some blitz games for fun, and just to mix things up.

I agree though, I don't learn that much from 5|1 games (and can't even think quickly enough to deal with silly things like the Hippo in even shorter time controls!).
