Smothered mate in 1 min game (16 moves)

Hats off to my opponent we had some real wars after this game, but to get a smothered mate is so rare and to get one in a 1 min quick game is even rarer.  I thought I would share.

You are correct.  I just looked it up and a smothered mate is only delivered by a knight.  So I coined it wrong.  However, it does look very similar in my defense :)

so smothered mate can only be done by a knight?

since the only difference is the one square occupied by white on the first game.

Interesting.  I didn't know what a smothered checkmate was.

I think the emphasis is that the opposing king is smothered completely by his OWN pieces. Despite the small difference, still a very impressive mate!
