Hello all,

I have made a video in which i demonstrate how to play 1min games without random moves or luck. It is created for people so that you will be able to reach 1600pts at least if you have some knowledge of chess. I posted it on youtube and whilest i'm playing i give explanation in english how to play throughout the game.

here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBIHY-gs4sI

Hope u learn a lot of it :)!

feel free to post any ideas or thoughts on the game, i must mention though that my last move with my queen is just a random one because my opponents time was up anyway.

Not a very good game to show players how to play rapid games. Your opponent was only rated 1500 and made far too many mistakes.. Your attacks were unsuccessful, the only reason why you won is because your opponent was a little lower on time.

Are there any other good general rules for fast chess?

Why bother with that stuff? I just drink a pitcher of coffee and move on.

@backln94: making a lot of mistakes is one of the issues with 1min games... it is impossible to thoroughly think through your moves. Even though if my attacks are unsuccesful he has to think what i'm trying and that costs time, and as i said: time is the KEYelement in this type of game.

@Peterart: i made the video with camtasia, easy downloadable and you have a free trial period for one month. :)

another rule is.... learn lot of theory :p  A LOT that way you wont have to think the first 20 moves.

well, i watched the video and i coud say that black's victory was not earned. he won only because of time , which is important in bullet games, but still a solid gameplay would be better to be shown. Also black lost his rook, his bishop on a6 was useless more or less, except for one move , to attack the rook, black's pawn all were at the 6th or 7th rank and if white has some plan he would win the game i think :)

ofc, this is only my opinion and i dont want to insult anyone.

my advice to players who want to improve their bullet rating is:

1. always play a well known opening.

2. if your opponent knows more theory than you, then you can try to change the game with some novelty, which wont endanger the game right away, dont be scared to sacrifice a pawn if needed( or a minor pieces for 2+ well-defended pawns).

3. if you think you are faster than the other player then dont exchange pieces, the more pieces the more complicated game it is.

4.when you are against the corner( :) ) look out for checks, this could win the game on time.

5. if both of the players are low on time , seek for the surprising moves, e.g. checks with a sacrifice

6. dont look at the timer , just play your game and remember to play it fast.

7. dont look at opponent's rating, high rating will scare you , low opponent's rating will you underestimate him.

8. dont play with laggers :) because of the frustration

9. dont get angry ( and dont slap the computer !! ), you will lose  games in a won position, and you will win games in a lost position , get used to it.it's part of a bullet game.

and one more thing, DONT FORGET, playing bullet WONT improve your game overall! it is just for fun :)

Now that I can agree of some of the issues but not on all... for example.. you WILL improve your game overall because you will get faster insight in situations which will lead to some time gaining in your reallife matches...

In 1/0 , 1/1, or even 1/2 chess, the clock is a bigger part of the game than otherwise.  If there are increments, then endgames matter much more than if it's "hard bottom".

The game MUST be played with the clock in mind, but whatever happens on the board can preempt the clock if it leads to mate.

Avatar of Waites180

True, but i'd say that 1/2 chess is not that quick because you can play 10moves of theory or some quick exchanges and you quickly gain time.

but your statement is correct nevertheless
