The French - Fried!

Hey all,

Been a while since I played a live game, and so I was happy with this miniature. I am a proponent of the 'transposed' French myself, playing as white, though as this 15 move game illustrates, I seem to have become rather comfortable with the resulting possible lines French-based games, even while black feels that he is the aggressor!

Have a look - some nice tactics were invovled:

Some good examples of bold favoring of position over material.
Though black's play faltered at the end somewhat, he wasn't farring very well anyhow. I welcome analysis and ideas.
Thanks.

I find that kind of play far too passive for the French opening. I've become comfortable with the more aggressive strategies against the French: when I play it I'm in for a fast-paced, action filled fight, not a long-drawn out, tense, positional battle. I'm ready if necessary, but I'm hoping that the dust will settle soon and some nice tactics may result, as was the case here.

Here is another recent example of a game where I use Nc3 in the manner I usually plan. This miniature also shows what I meant by getting more comfortable with the french lines and bringing the Queen to g4:

3.Nd2 is better than 3.Nc3.

I believe Kasparov disagrees with that assessment...

anyway, nice game.
