The power of knights.

I just finished a 5 minute blitz game which ended in about a minute thanks to my knights. The game was rather amusing. I really it showed the knight's unique jumping ability.

In your sideline, black does not play 7... fxg1=Q?? 8. Qxd8+! Kxd8 9. Rxg1 +/=, but 7... fxg1=N+!, forcing 8. Rxg1? Bg4+ or 8. Ke1 Qh4+ 9. Kd2 (9. g3?? Qe4+) Nc6 -+. This line is called the Lasker Trap.

To be honest, the actual game played out rather strangely. White made a number of major blunders which allowed you to take the win pretty comfortably.

Horrendous opening play, in my opinion.

The variation w/ 3.dxe5 and 4.e3 is wrong. After 3.dxe5 d4 4.e3 Bb4+ 5.Bd2 dxe3 6.Bxb4 exf2+ 7.Ke2 (White cannot capture as the queen will be left hanging) fxg1=Q? 8.Qxd8+ followed by 9.Rxg1 gives White a chance to hold. Better is 7...fxg1=N+ as now it comes with check and after 8.Ke1 ( 8.Rxg1 loses to Bg4+) Qh4+ and Black has a winning attack.

Thnx =]. Ya, i think i made a mistake with that Lasker trap variation. should have under promoted to a knight. If i promoted to a queen, white's queen could take mine forcing me to recapture and lose my promoted queen the next turn.

lol i never thought of that. thnx. whenever i play this, the rook just takes the promoted queen rather than exchanging queens.
