Not much to say, two low ranked players did many mistakes, but the best part won.
In the game got a material advantage, and you did the best thing, trade down!
There is some different types of advantages in chess, I would mention 3 to start with:
1.Material (the most obvious), white wins easy, and the easyest way is to trade down.
2.Space (You own more of the board)
Blacks position is cramped, to let the space advantage work for you, you should not trade down! This is important, if you trade down, you actually helps your opponent out of his space trouble.
3.Development, this one is obvious too, but timing is evrything! If you dont keep the iniative, the advantage will dissapear.
