Here's a variation of a game I played against someone where I won, due to his blunder but if he played something else it would have been the end of the game for me. Thanks to tonydal for finding the ending ...Rg8, Qg6 hxg6, Nf7+ variation.

what will happen if 7. ... Nd3, instead of 7. ... Ba6  ...no checkmate  for Nd3

Ah you are right. White would be winning but not checkmate. But I found a different combination that forces mate:
