Like I said before. The Chess course is currently in beta which means not everyone will have it. Your device shouldn't really matter as long as it isn't too old. The chess course is also only available to English Speakers currently.

Nope. It has only been released for some iOS devices so far (not sure what differentiates some getting it and some not; beta testers possibly??). It is in early stages. No word from Duolingo yet on a schedule for getting it on other versions.

In my opinion Duolingo is getting less and less about learning and is getting more and more into getting popular on social media and stuff. Chess is gaining popularity, so why not add it? It may get them more money.
