Very interesting information! I wish people did this more often: showing what the next level engines are evaluating upon new releases. Thanks for sharing!

Hello everyone, i conducted an experiment on my computer just out of pure curiosity, i run stockfish 16 NNUE for about 1h 40min on the first move, the engine reached a 53 base depth and a specific depth of 59 to 65 depending on the lines, ( this are 30 moves ahead positions at least). Here are the results.
As you might observe, there was an intense fight between e4 and c4, which i found surprising because im ignorant, a humble chess lover trying to improve with a rating of about 1700 rapid.
Other interesting facts, the most common position reached in the analysis, was:
Suggesting that if black wants equalize this is by far the best chance (against d4 c4). The engine tried at all costs to reach this position with 1.c4 and 1.d4, funny, that 4...Bb4 is not even the most played move in master level?
Another common position that the engine loved for White was:
When it comes to 1.e4, no surprises, here, against The italian the engine continued into the Giouco Pianno and the Berlin into the Ruy Lopez:
This was the prefered variaton of the engine in the berlin defense:
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bb5 Nf6 4. O-O Nxe4 5. Re1 Nd6 6. Nxe5 Be7 7. Bf1
I found it rather curious that with such an absurd amount of depth the engine prefered the Italian over the Ruy. But its plausible that if the analysis started after 1.e4e5 2.Nf3Nc6, the result would be the reverse.
So this are the most significant/curious results of my experiment, highlighting that c4 is significantly prefered to d4, even tho it is played in a way that black forces the transposition into the QGD. But ye it is funny that 1.c4 took the first place, while c4 scores higher in master play than 1.e4. The value of this results are ofcourse minimal i understand that, but i hope its still interesting for the reader to check what the engine that is regarded as strongest in the world thinks of the first moves with such depth. Feel free to give your insights about this, should 1.c4 be played more? Why isnt it played more? etc, whatever. Have a good morning/afternoon/evening
