1 0 how big a part does lag play??

Now I am not a slow player at  1 0  yet I just lost a game where the opponent still had 14 seconds left, to me that pretty impossible.

On ICC they have some sort of time stamp so that any lag does not in theory cost you time, on here is it just a case of best connection gives a massive advantage?  Or can people manipulate a time advantage through sculdugery?

There are time stamps here too and lag adjustments to compensate.

People using lag switches are able to manipulate their own lag, which can confer an advantage in very fast games. It doesn’t give them more time, but it changes the rhythm of the game. Because their opponent must wait longer for their move, the opponent gets a gnawing sensation that time should be running out, but it doesn’t and even seems to gain time.

Yeah, this is super annoying, because instinctively an experienced player can keep the pace, so if I'm 10 seconds ahead and moving just as fast, I shouldn't lose... then suddenly I lose on time.

Thank you. They are talking about problems with bullet chess.

You mainly play Daily chess games. Lag or delay in clocks registering moves wouldn't be an issue.
