I don't play video games. I'm not retarded.

85_PorsheTurbo

Ok, then I propose Weird Warren´s video countdown than.

bong711

Who is Warren Noob? I don't watch and listen to Noob's lectures. I prefer reading old books of dead authors who know what they are talking about.

I'll add that 30 reasons to my list. Thanks @oaneg for the link.

@joseph Nothing to promote other than chess... Pathetic! I haven't review Mathematics for a long time.

If by @joseph you mean me,  then what you need to understand is chess touches a lot of fields as your other specialty, psycho-babbling,  might have taught you!!! Lol not included for some reason.

But do not trust any actual Dr fraud and try not to take any pills unless you know for sure you are going to do something bad!!!

Finally I do give up on you,  so don't give up on me.  There is hope in chess too!

bong711

Oh my... There it goes again. Chess teaches many... Don't you read anything else? You downloaded too many chess PDFs. I hope you attain NM. Anything less is frustrating.

May I put in my 2 pennies worth... When I was active player I met hundreds of amazing people devoted to the Game of Chess. Some of them had their own demons and obstacles in "normal life" but we all were united in love with the Game. I never have been abused, discriminated or offended playing chess OTB - played over 1000 games in over 100 tournaments. Growing popularity of on-line chess has changed everything. I do believe that most abusive members of chess on-line community never played a single game in OTB classic tournament evil.png

Interestingly put @Coffe_Player. I love to send "f* you" type of communications sometimes towards my opponents during blitz games. I never played otb.

Albeit, the case reach vaster territories. In officcial encounters the force must be directed towards the "persona" - the general mask to be maintained. Any fluctuation could disrupt sort of -a mainline image. Thus, this usually cannot be allowed. (Not at the cost of a chess game)

Chess players are competing in one of the most violent types of constests possible - i.e. mind games. It would be simply ultra naive to ...accept the etiquette as the ambassador of the truth.

There are plenty of highly 'creative' types who never suffered from any mental disorders and were just down to earth folks like everyone else. However, many creative people may have been rendered neurotic as a result of outside stresses. Perhaps pertaining to their work, and how it was received. I don't see why chess players should suffer from personality disorders, any more than non chess players. But the archetypal image of being seen to be a chess player might attract people who already suffer from personality disorders. It certainly happens in the world of music and creative writing. The arts seem to attract a lot of nutters, but most of them are untalented dreamers who go around telling everyone how creative they are.

"just down to earth folks like everyone else" - portrayed as an ideal. I am calling the cops.

There were 2 diagnosed schizophrenics in the last chess club i belonged to. One was just a  'strong club player' and had a slightly vague/quiet demeanour (perhaps caused by his medication?), the other would have been in the 'very strong club & county player' catagory (just short of titled players) - he was more 'lucid' but could sometimes get angry and agitated e.g. if you said something he didn't like. I played him a few times, mostly in 'friendlies' but couldn't really compete in any of the games as he was just too strong. There were a few other members of the clubs i belonged to that could be called 'slightly odd' (maybe me too?) but the vast majority of chess players that i've encountered in the past would have to be called 'normal'... clubs.png wink.png

I believe Nature have the cure for any disorder. Go out and hear the birds chirps, the ocean roars, and breathe fresh air. Yes it's quite lonely out there. And very peaceful too. We spend little time with Nature as we spend time after work in front of TV, PC . Or in the crowd of malls. Desperates in the dark bars, pubs , and clubs. It doesn't have to be a far drive. Parks and seaside boulevards could be nurturing.

I close my eyes and see the images of figures like Peter Leko, Anish Giri, Lev Aronian... The apex of "normal". The "normal" so proper and normal, hell decorates its walls with imagery like that.

I hastily open my eyes..... 🔮

85_PorsheTurbo

Me. I would rather choose the word "suspicious" - strictly withn this particular fashion of suit and space decorum.

And one thing clear... Chess players are not nerds. Many people are mistaken.
