Resigning the game is a deep psycholocial trick to use to win games that makes ur opponent subcouncoiusly think that ur a stong player, bc u knew the game was over even b4 u were mated. This increases your chance of a rematch with them out of mutual respect and thus increases your chances of winning.

According to chess.com, there are four broad ways to win: by checkmate, by timeout, by resignation, and by abandonment. Probably one of the more peculiar ways to win is to play a chess.com bot just before server maintenance or before the server fails. The game will terminate, but the site will give you the win by abandonment.
