1500 In Bullet!!

If i played Blitz or Standard then a lot of the time during the game would be wasted sitting there playing the game.
Right, just sitting there playing the game doesn´t help you get better, and it´s boring! But to be honest with you, Bullet also involves a lot of wasted time just waiting for the opponent to move. I find 15 second games much more productive for real improvement (especially in tricky endgames), but only if you´re prepared to invest 2-3 seconds on analysis after each game.

Hilarious

Congratulations on reaching 1500 in bullet. Hopefully you are able to reach 1600 as well. Good luck.
Thank you sir

I am having a hard time to keep my bullet rating over 1500 (currently it's below). Congrats.
Thanks man. Im sitting at 1505 now. Dropped down about 30 points and just now got it back up.
I just recently broke 1600 and I'm really happy about it. I was wondering if you would be interested in playing me some games?

Yeah definitely add me as a friend and when I'm on the computer and I see you we can play

I sent the friend request.
I just want to express a quick concern: On your homepage there were some complaints about you letting your time run out instead of playing it out or resigning when you were losing. I dont mind if you play games out to checkmate, because its bullet, but it bothers me if you lets your time run out because it seems like ur a poor sport. I just want to make sure you wont do this before I play you

"If i played Blitz or Standard then a lot of the time during the game would be wasted sitting there playing the game."
I was thinking of some sort of sarcastic reply (Although I could not possibly expect to out-do Roraima here), but, I suppose this is an interesting point for playing bullet. However, during that time you are sitting and thinking, you are actually searching for creative ideas, and making assessments; in bullet you are almost taking a guess, training your reflexes, your mouse speed, and trying to win positions where you are down a few queens due to time.
All of that is good fun (I'm into bullet a lot too); but it is only good for fun, not improving.

I disagree to that it is "only good for fun". If you get into time trouble having experience of bullet comes in hand. You get better at calculating fast and might get better avoiding blunders you seem to miss no matter how much time you have. It also tests your theory knowledge to see how far you know your theory or face a line you have never faced before you can look it up after the game. Too much bullet don't improve your skills much though as the quality of the game gets much worse.

It's not as useful for practicing time pressure as you would think. It's generally patterns that help you to find quick moves, and that is ironically trained in slow chess.
For example, knowing that a bishop on c4/c5 pins down the f2/f7 pawn when the king is castled on g1/g8 will make it easier for you to find tactics involving that idea, as the pattern draws you in, gives you a scent of a combination, even in a short amount of time. Although this could be learned in bullet, it might be coming at you too fast for it to really stick in your head effectively.

I'm just saying bullet isn't worthless for improving. I agree slow chess is much better. About time pressure I do think having played 2 or 3 bullet games can make a difference compared to having played none, but having played 20 or 200 bullet games doesn't change much with handling time pressure.
Also it's important to remember time management isn't only about playing fast with little time left (argument against myself ), so it's not like playing bullet would be enough to master time management.

chess is a thinking game. when you take away the time required for thinking (i.e. bullet chess), what you are left with is a reaction game.
for those who want to believe they will get better by reacting in bullet mode, fine, let them believe whatever they want.
many of us enjoy the right to our own beliefs.
Ok so for the first time now i have gotten over 1500 in Bullet chess playing 1 minute games. Pretty excited. My page says my high is 1712 but that was when i first openned my account and won my first few bullet games so my rating shot way up. Playing Bullet is a great way for me to work on my opennings and variations and get a lot in each day. If i played Blitz or Standard then a lot of the time during the game would be wasted sitting there playing the game. I hope to reach 1600 in Bullet over the next few weeks. Wish me luck:)
