1900, achieved. Next grind: 2000.

I find it difficult enough to get to 1000 in Rapid. Sometimes I think I do worse when I try to digest chess lessons. One recent opponent has been banned for fair play violations and I got some points back (yes, they're out there, folks!) though it is probably not the main reason. I started September tilting badly, have fought back but am now losing again. I am trying to limit my games per day as this slows tilt down even if it does not stop it.

This is actually quite normal.

When we learn something new, our brains need some time to adapt to these new thought patterns. On a physical level, this means our brains are actually growing new physical connections, at a cellular level.

This takes time and energy ... so it's typical to notice you're decreasing in abilities, while this is happening.

Then, once your brain is done "rewiring" itself to the new knowledge, you might notice that your skill level suddenly "leaps" back up ...

I've noticed it many times over the years. Learning something new takes a toll ... but then once you've had enough of a recovery period, your mind will bounce back.

My recommendation is to stop playing bullet and actually concentrate on playing chess well.

i looked at one of your recent losses to see if i could make some helpful suggestions. You did not take a free bishop on move 3. You then hung a piece on move 7. That is not chess. You are making premoves so that you are racing rather than playing chess.

Also, remember that bullet ratings are highly variable and frequently fluctuate by 100 points or more. This means that, if you are grinding bullet and finally reached 1900, your actual bullet skill is likely far below 1900 and you are just on a chance uptick.

If you really want to achieve a higher rating, study some basic chess. When you increase your chess understanding, you will earn a higher rating.

#45 is right. Bullet is not chess.

Chess is boring why should I play it? I don't care about chess, only bullet and variants.

Bullet is not chess, bullet is a better chess.

Both never go together.

You can't really expect long-term progress in bullet if you aren't willing to put in work on your regular chess. I used to struggle to break out of the 1600 to 1800 range in blitz. After I took the time to study chess in general, my blitz progress has followed.

If you want to focus on bullet, that's fine. But your bullet skills are directly tied to your chess skills, at some point, you will not be able to make any more progress in one without first working at the other.

If you do some longer tactics before games and learn a few dangerous openings/build on your existing theoretical knowledge you should be able to break 2k bullet in a few days.

I'm more of a hyperbullet/ultrabullet player and I know a friend who is 1.7k bullet 600 rapid. I'm still underrated in regular chess I'm fine at it.
