i play really bad on this platform wondering if there any other players that play bad or that prefer the peices and board. I don't know if i need better glasses or just can't pick up on the shades correctly. I just don't get it. Maybe i just play really bad. That hurts but i don't want to be in denial that my game is not bad.

black and white pieces on a nice wooden style 2D board. It's not that I have a depth perception issue, it's just the pieces and squares are better on 2D. My board focus has been better since then.

It took me a while to get used to playing on a computer screen, but I got the hang of it eventually.

I've only ever played on the computer screen - I bet if I ever got round to playing OTB it'd completely screw with me.

I have only seriously played on the computer and when i switch to a board it is very different for me. I tend to make bad moves because I lose focus when playing a board so your concern may be very legitimate.

I read somewhere in a book about Bobby FIscher that he recommended practicing only with a chess set that would be similar to the chess sets you would actually be playing with.

This is very interesting how a chses player must transfer his/her chess knowledge from a 3D setting to a 2D setting for online chess or chess on a handheld device.

The pieces move in the same ways, but the field of vision is different.
