Today i was playing a blitz game, and somehow my opponent got his 2nd queen on the field. How is that possible??? That seems bit illegal to me, cuz in real game of chess you wouldn't get 2 queens..

Well... it just is (possible, that is). That's just how it works. You get a pawn to the last rank, you get to promote it to any piece of your choosing between queen, rook, bishop or knight of your own color.

Or, you can think about it this way: the chess.com boards have extra queens.

Maximum of 9 queens, even in the ancient times of Persia.

I've had games where I've had two queens in the middlegame.  It happens.  Also, in the game above 40. Qfd3# finishes it a move earlier.

I saw a total of 5 queens on the board in the game GM Kamil Miton - GM Joel Benjamin at the 2005 World Open.  After a flurry of exchanges, Miton won.  Very exciting to see in person!

I thought only Nakamura could do something like that.  But Finegold is a chess maniac too!

Really hard to avoid stalemate or to give a premature checkmate before all other places are gone - the knight and the bishop and the last rook!

38.Qxd7+ finishes it 2 moves earlier.
