2025 Tech Mahindra Global Chess League: Official Discussion Thread

The 2025 Tech Mahindra Global Chess League is the third season of the world's biggest and strongest chess league, taking place December 14-23 with a $1,000,000 prize fund.

The event consists of a team double round-robin Preliminary Stage followed by a best-of-two set of matches Final among the top two teams.

Format consists of a Game Points (GP) + Match Points (MP) system. Players earn 4 GP for a win with Black, 3 GP for a win with White, 1 GP for a draw, and 0 GP for a loss. Teams earn 3 MP for a win, 1 MP for a draw, and 0 MP for a loss.

There are six teams with six players each. Team composition is as follows:

• The highest-rated player—the "Icon"—plays on board 1
• Two "Superstar Men"—play on boards 2 and 3
• Two "Superstar Women"—play on boards 4 and 5
• One junior player (born 2003+)—the "Prodigy"—plays on board 6
• Board order is fixed throughout the tournament
