I’ve gotten 2 brilliant moves in a row before. 38 is crazy! It’s definitely possible to get more.

It's not real. He clicked inspect element on the computer and changed the number to 38. Took a screen shot and posted it thinking everyone is dumb..

Possible, but everyone got different results - that conclusion is not well-supported.

It's not possible to get 38 brilliant moves in an analysis. A brilliant move is a hard to see move that is ALSO the BEST move. It is possible to get 38 best moves but it is not possible for all of those 38 moves to also be brilliant (very hard) to see. There just aren't positions where stockfish would analyze that many moves to be brilliant. Which is why when you input the "38 brilliant moves" game into the analysis tool it only shows 1 brilliant move. This is because inspect element doesn't change the game PGN, but only the look of the page you are on. And you must be one of those people he thought was dumb to believe a ridiculous thing like that.

Well, think of it this way- Sometimes brilliant moves are actually DIFFERENT than the BEST move (crazy but true). Even if the 38 brilliants are fake, the person who supposedly got this many moves didn't post it; a viewer did. We all got different results - it may not be true but if we look at the most common across people's devices it's likely to make more sense there.

Brilliant moves are never different from the best move. They are the exact same except brilliant moves are also hard to spot. All brilliant moves are the best move but not all best moves are brilliant. So I have no idea what you are talking about. What does who posted it have to do with whether it's fake or not? Its either fake or its real and its not possible for it to be real so its fake. Everyone getting different results doesn't change the fact that is not possible to get 38 brilliants in one game.

I agree now that it's impossible to get 38 brilliants in one game, but the "Best Move" and "Brilliant [Move]" are sometimes different. It's not common but not rare either. I made a post about a game where my brilliant move was different from the best move - check it out here:

https://www.chess.com/forum/view/general/my-30th-brilliant-move-it-was-not-even-stockfishs-best-move-but-still-brilliant

PS: For the record, I made my 35th brilliant yesterday

It’s actually not 38, but 19 brilliant moves, which still is a crazy number in one game. Until you see what those moves were…Simple, repetitive, “take my rook, please” moves trying to force a stalemate in the endgame.

Makes sense to me but the most number of brilliants in a game I've seen before are 2 (in a row) - and that was one of my games

This forum was since 2021. Now, Stockfish 16 says that there are 19 brilliant moves in the game.

Fake. I saw this exact game in a youtube video bro. Nice try tho

Surrreeee…. This is deeeeeefinitely real….

“Brilliant” is a chess.com thing and not related to stockfish and it is real because “brilliant” is just whenever the chess.com “brilliant” move finder finds a brilliant move which is usually a sacrifice and in this position the rook is sacrificed over and over confusing the “brilliant” move finder when really it should just give one
