5 months until the end of the year
Hopeless. Stopped playing. I was too useless to continue and couldn’t live with myself.
Not quite sure what you're doing but to settle for a sub 550 rapid rating is ridiculous. There's absolutely nothing you can't quickly fix at that level with even the slightest bit of review and study. I would suggest doing this much more than quitting at things and resigning yourself to being "useless". Believe me - it becomes a habit.
That’s kind of the point. I can’t and haven’t been able to fix it. Its not actually a problem with the chess - I can learn that. It’s a behaviour - I do things too impetuously and can’t break the habit. It mirrors how I am in real life too unfortunately.
I cant reply to #4 because Im using the app on my phone. I wouldnt agree with your statement that 10|0 games results are meaningless. What do you think my OTB abilities are then? Reaching 1700 from a complete zero knowledge about chess in less than eight months is a great accomplishment for me and whatever you say cant deny it.
How exactly do you think 2000+ is reached? For us who are not starting our profiles at 1600, 2000, etc? I havent played any chess yet? Hmm, Im wondering what was I doing for the past few months? If I was playing blitz which is bad for improvement and gained 1000 points in short amount of time, just imagine then what can I achieve by following your advice. Btw, why dont you share your progress so far?
First of all nobody asked you for any help. I understood everything very well, dont you worry about that. Have a nice day. :)
Why do you have this need to undermine someone else's achievement. Does it make you feel better about yourself? I wont bother myself no more with a bitter man like you are.
Alright let's stop the arguing
Getting to 1700 in rapid your first year is incredible! Don't even know how you did that. Nice work!
Your ratings on here will definitely reflect (no exact formula of course, everyone is different) your rating OTB. OTB is undeniably tougher because people take it more serious, but you can certainly gauge your basic skill level with ratings on here.
@Militarystrategy your first comments are not offering help.. they are criticism. Offer your help to those who ask and actually want it
Anyways, my last comment on all of that.
As for chess this year, I have not progressed at all! But just play for fun
#17 Thank you on your kind words! I have been playing OTB with my friends and family. I brought it to house and at first I was losing many games until I got better. Right now only my grandfather is a person I can play with to get some quality games for both of us. I didnt go to any tournaments, maybe later. I agree OTB is definitely tougher and I noticed its easier for me to play in 2D, in 3D I miss a lot of stuff.

You'll do fine if you try tournament games.

I'm just telling you: 10/0 games mean nothing. I have no idea what your real OTB strength is because you haven't really played any Chess yet. Fast games with no increment are the absolute worst test of talent below basically the 2000+ level.
Additionally: The 10/0 pool is the softest pool on the site. By far.
Starting out learning the game playing speed chess will come back to bite you soon enough, when you add time on the clock and play against a competent opponent. Many players go through this today. The sooner you cut out the garbage online blitz (10/0 is blitz by all standards), legitimately study the game, and play classical chess - the better.
It’s very hypocritical of you to say when your only two online games played are blitz.
I have enough street smarts to avoid hypocrites.

literally any time control over 10|0 is also classified as rapid on cc; 30|0, 30|5, 45|45, it's all rapid on cc.
Be honest: How is your chess progress going so far?
