They're trying to replicate OTB as closely as possible, so no automatic awards; they need to be claimed. In Live, you push Offer Draw and the software gives it to you. In correspondence (daily, online, whatever) the button changes from Offer Draw to Claim Draw, or at least that's how it used to work. Not sure if the article is outdated but here it is:

I just played a game with my king against king,bishop and knight. We got to 50 consecutive moves and I was expecting the software to award a draw. It didn't. Can you challenge a result on chess.com?
