I' ve just watched the video of this guy Cschoppen on youtube making 60 and 70 puzzles. Just unbielevable!!

It’s just memorization. I know someone who memorized all the answers to trivia pursuit; same thing. The question is, can this person apply the puzzles to actual chess playing?

I agree that it’s impressive, just not in the chess sense; rather, the memorization sense. It’s incredible that this person memorized so many puzzles, yes. Frankly, I think the person would’ve done better to work on tactics and play games to improve in chess.

How many puzzles has the puzzle rush? It looks insane that someone just memorise all the puzzles

Zardorian
You’re right. Not sure how many. It’s true that part of chess is memorizing lots of different scenarios; however, as the super computers have shown us, it’s more about training your mind to be malleable; to be able to shift gears on the fly. It’s more important to be able to train your brain to see many steps ahead. I think the best way to do that is to find a balance between studying and playing, but constantly playing is the most important.Just my opinion.
Rook_Handler

its probably not memorization. There are over 10,000 puzzles in the tactics library.

Yet this guy is not a GM, right? He must suck at other aspects of the game, otherwise, with that excellent pattern recognition he would be a GM? That means that pattern rec is not so important?

Puzzle Rush and Tactics Trainer, if the puzzle seen before does it become Memory Rush and Memory Trainer.

Pattern recognition, a term much used by second rate authors trying to sell third rate publications.

come on. there are only 1500 GM's on the planet..suck at other aspects??? he's a IM for cryin out loud that's 2400 fide at least which would translate to something like 2600 on chess.com and 2900 on lichess...suck at chess???no sir , you might suck at chess, titled players don't

Ok, maybe the word I chose was not the most appropiate. What I wonder is how an IM can do it far better than Nakamura and MVL, two of the top players in the world

Rook_Handler

because maybe he does nothing but that while naka and MVL have chess careers

He already got two GM norms. In next few tournments, he will likely be GM.

Remember, high rated tournments are not available everyday. Players need to wait for tournment calender, save money for travel expense and accommodation for tournments( if his parents dont support big cashes , it will take time for him), pay entry fee etc.

As he become no 1 in PR , his effeort is extreme.

Stop your BS jealousy.
