Hello everyone

I started chess at around 850 elo and am now 1700 rapid. I have gained 850 elo in 3 months (im addicted been playing everyday). Wanted to know if reaching master level would be plausible within 2 years?

Nope, not even remotely.

1. A 100 point difference (FIDE ELO, not chess.com Glicko 2) means approximately that you can beat the guy half of the time, and half of the time get a draw. Obviously every additional 100 points get ever increasingly harder.

2. Master levels are won OTB in FIDE tournaments, not on chess.com

3. OTB chess is very different from online chess, in that it is much harder.

If ELO could be gained in a linear way, people like Magnus Carlsen (started at age 5) would probably be able to reach ELO 10,000 and beyond. He "only" reached 2882 at age 27, the highest ELO recorded for any human being. He really wanted to break 2900, but couldnt.
