A 2100 Seeking Advice

Hello everyone. I barely crossed the threshold of 2100 today in Rapid in about 3 years of playing chess with about an 8 month break. I would love to continue to improve, and I'm wondering from stronger players how they continued to do so? (And yes, I do chomp hanging pieces )

Thanks for everyone's feedback!

I know I'm not a 2100 rapid but I'm pretty sure that one way is to book up on theory. I know your doing that already but your still getting duped by a Ponziani trap somehow.

The second part I actually don't know. People at this level start playing mainline Nimzo Indians or Ruy Lopez so probably explore with the engine some novel line to play I guess.

All too true. Thanks Rud

Even at 2100 rapid, ppl still blunder easily. Play for your style, and play a lot. I've done very little serious training (mostly playing online, but playing thousands of games) and I've gotten 2500 bullet, 2450 blitz and my rapid is underrated by at least 150 points.

hop off the game for 5 months will help you clear your mind of your mindless chess games

people blunder a lot, so keep working on tactics and chomping on hanging pieces. also try to improve your positional knowledge, as tactics flow from a superior position. basically its the same as what you've been doing to improve.

Just get better at calculating. People like to talk about how you need to know 15+ moves of theory, but in my experience they're wrong (I'm usually out of book by move 4-5)
