Fellow chess gurus, aficionados, computer assisted players (cheaters), and fans of ME, I apologize for my lack of output (posts) as of late, but I have bigger fish to fry. Oh, don't tell me that I have no fans, my latest forum topic "Chess is NOT a sport!!!" generated over 300 replies (not including my own) and holds the record for most replied to topic of ALL TIME. Many topics are flooded with posts from the original poster just to generate numbers--not so with me.
Second, we are putting the final touches on the ITERATIVE DEEPENING and ALPHA-BETA PRUNING portion of our upgrade on CANNIBAL. What this refers to is trimming the number of positions and responses that get evaluated in the overall process while choosing the best move based on the depth and time that I am giving the program. What pleases me most is that MY program (I'll call it mine from now on) is NOT making the mistake that cost it the game in our vote chess game. It is not gobbling up material just to gain points.
I will post the results tomorrow of CANNIBAL vs. CHESSMASTER 10 in 50 - 2 minute games. Both sides will have pondering switched OFF due to the well known fact that THE KING (chessmaster's engine) hogs 100% of processor power and will not let ANY program think at any point of a game. Both sides will have 16 MB hash (larger hash tables are actually DETRIMENTAL for speed games). The best score my program has achieved is 15 wins, 18 losses, and 17 draws, for a score of 23.5-26.5.
I currently am not reading my emails or sending out emails to anyone (maybe one or two) so don't think I've forgotten about all of you whom I have had conversations with in the past--I'll get back in the routine in a few weeks.
I've noticed that MANY people that had made a name for themselves (people that I actually looked forward to reading) on this site during my 8 months here are gone. Why? Are they still here and just use different names? Have they moved on? Have they grown up? Once again, I feel as though I am IMMORTAL, outlasting all around me. I've seen 'em come and go on other sites, as I remained. 10 years on "the other site" I lingered. Alas, I too ceased to exist there, only to be reborn HERE. I'm like a redwood tree: towering above all others, always there, immovable, seemingly unending. I watch people rise up, get a following, get their 15 minutes of fame, only to fade away into the distance...as I watch on. I am CURSED.
You may have noticed I have not said the "U" word lately. What's the "U" word, you ask? Well, think about it. It still applies to me, for I have not yet been mated. However, it is clear I am beatable. I still am the single greatest computer aided chess player to grace the www and have recently beaten a 2600 player who is on the ICCF (international correspondence chess federation). I used Fritz on that one. Once again, I could have used fritz on you guys back in April and probably draw, but look at how boring that would have been. I wouldn't be upgrading my program right now, and millions of words would not have been typed by all of us back and forth, for I would have been deleted by the Admin. It is a good thing. However, I don't feel I have earned the right to brag about my being UN******** so soon after getting beaten.
Well, I know how many people love reading my posts, and I could go on and on, but I'll stop this post now and keep it short and sweet. I'll post the results of CANNIBAL vs. CHESSMASTER tomorrow.
