a good chess program?

Hello,

I have been playing here for, I dunno, a couple of months or so. My question is: what would be a good Windows chess program that is easy to download, run and then set up a scenario and see how it responds?

I know chess.com is based on the honor system, and I do not wish to cheat the system. However, once a game is over, it would be nice to go back and "work out the kinks" to my game.

If you are willing to spend money, Fritz 11 is a nice program for analyzing games.

You can try this one, it's improved version of Winboard, setup in a way you can use it from usb stick, or other portable device. It already has three chess engines, all ready to play:

I have downloaded winboard. Has anyone here tried Chess Position Trainer?

I have Deep Shredder 11 with the Shredder gui and think its a great program.  You can tweak it to play at different elo ratings which is nice, since the thing is almost invincible full strength.  if you are in no big hurry you can wait a month or so and get Rybka 3 with the aquarium gui, which will be the strongest engine for years to come.  Fritz 11 is good too.  Good luck.  I dont like Winboard as well as Fritz and Shredder.
