Pick up a grandmaster who has a playing style u can relate to.(in a degree at least)

a)Study his favorite opening lines.

b)Try to understand his plans.

In the meantime,solve tactical and endgame exercises for fun!

I really can't expand on your question but the only way to get better is to Play as much as you can. And switch it up, don't play the same person all the time. You have to work on your set up skillsas well as your defense! The best offense is a good defense...
