A "chess-less" community.

I live in the backwoods, I have to drive 30mins-2hrs to play in a tournament. No clubs, No others who play, I tuaght myself. ( by no means the best) I like to teach others how to play because the game itself is beautiful, also to know I brought something like chess into someones life by teaching is great. Should I make a county club? I feel like I should, but where I live, "muddin and truckin" is all that is ever brought up as enjoyment. Which is why I feel starting a club will just be the Hiddenburg of Chess.

I think it's a wise idea to go ahead and try and introduce chess to the community if you want t0. Just don't be surprised if people say no...

It can't hurt to try. Usually an anchoring institution might help (school, church, library, bar...) so there is another reason for people to be there and come across your activity.
