tell me what you do to help you learn chess.
A rating just above 1000

5 tractics and a few games is not study and very little practice. Chess is like a musical instrument or learning a language. To get better you have to practice. Ideally a few hours every day.
Go to chesstempo.com to do any number of tactical puzzles. Don't guess for moves. Spend as long as 5 minutes on a puzzle trying to find the whole solution and be sure it is correct before moving the first piece. Do this for about an hour every day. At the beginning of this exercise, review some puzzles you missed previously. After you get a puzzle wrong you need to try it again, and then a few days later again. If you can't solve it after 5 or 10 minutes of thinking, then give up an guess a move. Be sure to review a puzzle like this a few times.
You'll also want to learn something about strategy, but without books your options are limited. Maybe something like the stl chess club youtube videos? I'm not sure. This could be another hour every day.

When you play games, and you should play don't just study, play longer games than blitz. If you want to play a few blitz games for fun or to warm up that's fine, but for example the 15|10 time control is much better. If you can get even longer games like 30|0 or 60|0 even better. You can play for a few hours every day... but always review the games. You have to learn from your mistakes. Use a database to compare the opening choices in the game to what strong players have played. I don't know which free one is the best, for for example chess.com's opening explorer.

Also use an engine to find your (and your opponent's) biggest tactical mistakes. I'll say it again, it's important to review every game you play. Even if it's blitz, spend a few minutes getting some feedback on mistakes. Feedback and review is necessary to improve.

Hey guys ! The thing is I've been stuck in this range for a really long time. I have no idea what to do. I do the 5 free tactics everyday , but I feel like I'm not learning anything. I have summer vacation now for 3 months and I wanna increase my rating to about 1500. Is it even possible , if so how can i do this?
The basics of each phase of the game
Opening:
Follow the Opening principles:
1. Control the center squares – d4-e4-d5-e5
2. Develop your minor pieces toward the center – piece activity is the key
Ø Complete your development before moving a piece twice or starting an attack.
Ø Move pieces not pawns.
3. Castle
4. Connect your rooks
Ø By move 12, you should have connected your Rooks, or be about to do so.
Middle game:
When you have completed the Opening Principles, you are now at the middle game. Now you need to formulate a middle game plan. The middle game is a very complicated part of a chess game. A simple way to develop a middle game plan is to perform the following steps.
1. Scan your opponents 5th, and 6th ranks (3rd, and 4th if your black)
2. Look for weak pawns, and or weak squares.
Ø Weak pawns and squares are Pawns, and squares that cannot be defended by another Pawn.
Ø Knights are excellent pieces on weak squares.
Ø When deciding on weak squares, and weak Pawns to attack, the closer to the center the better
End game:
Start with the basics:
1. Learn basic mates – KQ vs. K, KR vs. K, KRR vs. K
2. Learn Opposition, and Key Squares
3. Learn basic King and Pawn endings
Pre Move Checklist
1. Make sure all your pieces are safe.
2. Look for forcing moves: Checks, captures, threats. You want to look at ALL forcing moves (even the bad ones) this will force you look at, and see the entire board.
3. If there are no forcing moves, you then want to remove any of your opponent’s pieces from your side of the board.
4. If your opponent doesn’t have any of his pieces on your side of the board, then you want to improve the position of your least active piece.
5. After each move by your opponent, ask yourself: "What is my opponent trying to do?"

agreed.
this is No where NEAR enough time.
you are putting in 7 hours a week- and almost all of it in simple minded quick blitz games.
there are Many, many things you could add to this kind of program; but if you don't like the idea of deep study with a book and a chessboard
my advice is to add watching chess videos... there are Many excellent ones you could choose.

Uh, not to say that there's anything wrong with the moderation of this wonderful site, nor the totally not greedy, invested chess player who's just doing this for the chess who runs this site! Don't kill me...

Over time I've learned to simply just NOT mention the name of any other chess website on these forums whatsoever. I've had my chat censored like three times for doing no more than you did. Definitely keep these to private messages.
I've mentioned them casually before. When it's not the main point of the post I've gotten away with it. Something like "I played this game on ICC, and I think this game is interesting." Since it's about the game I've seen them let it go.
Which is sensible IMO. Maybe GodsPawn would have a stroke and think it's double standards... because when you can't use common sense you only have the letter of the law to inform you, but I think the mods do a good job, it's not a problem.
