Hello everyone, i think everyone goes through this process of ups and downs. It is so frustrating especially  when you really do your training( reading chess books, solving puzzles, analyzing master's games etc) and then you lose 4-5 games in the row or more. On top of that you even have a decline on your puzzle rating. What is the worst of all that, is when you thinking of how much time  and effort you dedicated  almost everyday to become better and the results are so poor or nonexistent. From your experience how long it will take to climb rating, cause i think if you keep pushing, the climbing is inevitable

I’m going through a purple patch at the minute.

It’s all swings and roundabouts.

Personally, I enjoy it far more when I’m not focusing on the ratings etc. Much more fun. I’ll never be a super strong player as I don’t have the time. Just enjoy it, takes the pressure off.

I was 1580 at my peak on Lichess and now I am around a thousand, I don't know what made me play so bad that I lost around 600 points or so. Could be the increasing engine users or Could be that I changed my approach towards the game in past few months. Half of the time I am playing I am crazy drunk and This is infuriating when I keep losing 😅😅 but the truth is that I have stopped improving and stopped really giving thought to my moves rather I started playing faster games with more gambits and less chess which takes me out of simple logical ideas and makes me sac a lot resulting in me losing the games.

TL;DR

Work on your chess, You are not growing because you are doing the same thing you did when you were much less rated, Read some books, Learn basic check mating patterns, Improve on finding attacking motifs and also try and develop strategies while playing the game.
