I believe there already is a way to start a game from a custom position if you configure a challenge properly, and challenge someone who is willing to play.
Otherwise, I’ve played thematic tournaments that start from a specific position. Actually, I’m playing some thematic daily games right now.

In other words, a way to ensure your opponent will respond in kind with the black or white opening (sequence, column etc) that you are trying to learn.
For instance- let’s say you want to improve as white vs accelerated dragon. Or Alekhines 4 pawn attack with black pieces. Play 50 games and you might get one shot.
My point— is there a way to set up matches for people learning specific openings, and if not there should be.
