a6 is often a good move in the exchange slav anyway to stop ideas such as Bb5 and Nb5.

White plays the exchange Slav 1. d4 d5 2.c4 c6 3. cd5 cd5
My question is, does the exchange Slav result in Black having no reason to play a6 (Modern Slav) because there is no longer a black pawn on the c file as a result of the exchange?
