Abandoned games

So far I've never given a bad sport thumbs down to another player. That may change the next time someone abandons a lost game instead of resigning. Why should you have to sit there until the system eventually ends the game?

I recently had an opponent stall the last 2 minutes of a 5 minute game. I had mate in 1. I went through his archive and apparently this is his modus operandi when he is about to lose. I blocked and reported and moved on. Will he be reprimanded? I doubt it. There are millions of players on this site and there too many poor sports for the staff to make a dent. It is what it is. Online chess is filled with players who stall, abandon, and abuse their opponents in chat. I shrug it off, refusing to allow the jerks to control my emotions. They are small minded, petty people and that's all I have to say about that.

Abandoned games... I know that sometimes there are troubles with connection but... what if it happens after my opponent blundered? Can it be coincidence?

You should be reporting this behavior every single time, and select "Stalling/Quitting Games". If it happens enough, account will be flagged as bad sport and placed into the bad sport pool where they will be forced to play others who behave the same way. So do you part to clean up the pool. Always be a good sport, and bad ones always thee report.
