Abandoned Games - how annoying

I was in a 15/10 game yesterday and had a complex decision to make -- so I took about 6 minutes (from 12 minutes down to 6) to decide on my move. And suddenly I lose because I "abandoned" the game. I did no such thing. I was trying to decide what move to make ... and assumed I had control of the clock, just like in an over-the-board tournament. I guess I assumed wrong. In my view, Chess.com has to fix this.
You don't always know if you have a good connection tom....jeez is this pompous day out?!!
