Playing white at my ~1000 rating, I notice many players abort after I open with queen's pawn. I don't know if they don't want to play black or if they don't want to play a queen pawn opening. Either way, it seems like bad sportsmanship. How can we stop this behavior?

Those kinds of player won't ever improve. I play mostly as a guest, rather than in account. I used to mainly play 1. d4 and lots of players would abort. I tend to play 1. e4 now (not because of this issue) and find that many less players abort. I think that they fear or don't like the positional kinds of game that 1. d4 is more likely to produce. These are a subset of the same set of players who always play the Giuoco Piano rather than the Ruy Lopez because they don't understand or get bored with the deeper strategic nature of many variations of the RL. They've no soul!!

If you're going to comment on someone's grammar, at least look up contractions.

you can contract the verb to have when using the perfect tense only

can ¨you have 20 dollars?¨" also be ¨you've 20 dollars?¨

no

but ¨ï have had 20 dollars¨ and ¨i've had 20 dollars¨ work

Thank you for clarifying. English is not my first language. I must admit though I'm sure I've heard "you've 20 dollars" (or similar) used in speech with the non-perfective 'have'. I imagine that you are a native speaker of English and can tell me whether I've misheard or whether some speakers do use this contraction 'incorrectly' when speaking.

as a person who used to abort when facing d4 i can explain why...i am a Nf6 player who expects 2.c4 you guys play 2.Bf4, 2.f4,2.Nc3 (not as bad) which we get tired of facing EVERY GAME all my my lichess game ever have been 2.Bf4 or one of the others i mentioned

There are many defenses to London: Benoni, Kings Indian, etc, that many London players won't know how to handle. Several youtube vids claim to destroy the London. Use a good defense and win against the london. The london defenses require white to play differently, sometimes even from move 2. Instead of aborting, learn to play!
