Abuse during blitz games

Josie, you can disable the chat completely and/or block individual users through their username. You can also report abuse through the help portal - ideally, screenshot the abuse and send us the snap.
I"m sorry you've been running into jerks. Unfortunately, with over a million active members it's going to happen sometimes. Please let me know if you have any other questions.
Best of luck,
AnnaEA
I came to the same conclusion a month ago. I block both chat and messages because I don't play chess to take the kind of verbal abuse I was receiving. It's much nicer to play now.

You have the option to close chat to avoid jerks. I dont do that because i think its kinda impolite especially when they block chat @ the beginning (and you also might lose the opportunity to have a talk with a good guy/gal) ... Thats why i keep chat open, and if some1 try to harrash me i keep my cool and ignore him.

But it's not worth having the chat switched on if you get abuse too.

Play with chat automatically disabled. Then after the game post a nice note.
Anyway I don't want to chat, I want to play chess.

I noticed that the lower the ratings, the more the trash talk...
Now I just use focus mode, it's a godsend.

Maybe they just want to chat because even in bltz they have to wait for you. Every considered that side of the Bonobo? If you feel getting abused and you feel so bad then give them a trophy saying that you spent them a breakfest

Nothing more annoying playing chess when you have cheer leaders screaming when you are on check...lol.

Once someone advised that I should quit the game after I made a mistake, I went on to win it.
It's just nasty.

I've been playing here for a couple of weeks now, and found about 99% of people to be quite lovely (well most don't say a word!), but the 1% who aren't do stick out a bit sometimes. Oddly 3 of the 4 outright rude people were in the first few days of me joining, so that did create a bad impression at first. Also oddly, two of them were mean after they beat me :-(
I've found people seem a bit nicer in the tournaments. I guess anyone joining a tournament just wants to play chess, plus there's none of the awkwardness about whether or not to offer rematches.
