Accessing PGN files

When I download PGN files, they automatically open in my Chessbase light. However, I want the raw PGN files, for blogs etc on this site. Is there a way to prevent Chessbase being the defualt program, or another way of accessing PGN files here that bypasses Chessbase? 

I have searched Options and Help files here and in Chessbase, to no effect. Any assistance greatly appreciated:))

try a rightclick menu on the icon of the file and then choose open in notepad.

Navigate to the downloaded file on your computer and right-click it. You should be able to "Open With..." and choose notepad, if you're using windows.

Thanks guys, but neither of those options work. There is no 'open with' option, if you right-click the PGN icon. The downloaded file automatically opens in Chessbase (again, no option to use an 'Open with..."). Thanks for suggestions, and...search for the answer continues...!

Strange that there's no option. Open up notepad, then click File > Open inside notepad, and navigate to your file instead.

That works! Very grateful to you! It is a bit cumbersome, but what the hey: I have tried to solve this off and on for a couple of days, so..thanks again:))

You should be able to go into your operating system's control panel and set the default program associated with opening a file with a pgn extension.
