You’re possibly accidentally hitting resign and the confirm option is preventing immediate resignation.

Thanks that makes sense. But my finger is only on the board.

Is it possible that the opponent can offer a chance to resign ?

Yes, Chess.com has an auto-resign feature, but it is triggered by inactivity or disconnection, not by the game's position. It is designed to prevent players from "stalling" or wasting an opponent's time after they have clearly left the match. How Auto-Resignation WorksThe system automatically ends a game and awards the win to the active player under these conditions:Disconnection: If you lose your internet connection, a timer starts. The amount of time you have to reconnect is usually 10% of the base game time (minimum 30 seconds, maximum 3 minutes).Abandonment: If a player stops moving and closes the app or tab without resigning, the system will eventually declare the game abandoned and award the win to the opponent.Lost Positions: If a player disconnects in a "completely lost" position (judged by the engine as -3.5 or worse), the auto-resign timer can be as short as 15 seconds.Early Game Inactivity: If you don't make a move within the first 15–20 seconds of a match, the game may be auto-aborted.

That's not something that's possible
