I just thought of a tragic mouseslip regarding castling but it has nothing to do with this topic so I'll make a different topic about it.
Accidentally castling

At least give us an option to "confirm castling" in live, had this happen twice in two days both times losing won positions

I just accidentally castled in the worst way possible, my queen side pawns were decimated and I was thinking about castling king-side so I clicked the king, then I decided to move the queen side rook instead to protect a pawn, I think I clicked the square next to the rook instead and there you go, worst possible castle. If there is an option to de-select a piece that would work, just not sure I could get used to doing that every time. You could also have "select" and "move" on different mouse buttons.

It happened again, this time I clicked a piece, thought for a long time, thought I had the rook highlighted, castle hanging a knight.

It's not that I'm moving two squares toward the king. I was clicking Rh8 to take the pawn at h4, but ended up castling, which was a disaster. This happened today, and I had a similar incident yesterday. I'm getting frustrated from accidental castling.
I understood the problem you are taking your rook and hovering it over the rook which makes your king and rook castle.
If that isn't the problem try contacting mod or refreshing the page.
Regularly have this issue with the phone app. Not sure if my phone is too se sensitive but literally reviewing options and it castles regularly when ive no intention to. I wish their qas a function that stated to confirm castle. I know that eats up time but their could be a box to auto castle for those who dont want that and the rest suffering from this regularly could have a way to avoid this. Done this about 10 times accidentally, at least half when winning and it almost always results in a loss

Do other people have this problem? Maybe there should be a little security check before castling in the program?
Yes. It just happened to me in a game for the second time this week. Was going to castle, then decided to move my rook instead and the predictable happened.
I suppose that will teach me to play online as though it's touch move, but it is rather surprising there's no way to turn that off. ;-)

Anyone having a problem with accidentally click-moving should go to Home -> Settings -> Board and Pieces and change Move Method to Drag Pieces Only. They added this option a couple of weeks ago.

DUDE NO WAY DID IT FINALLY HAPPEN

I got so frustrated yesterday after yet another accidental castle that I thought, "Wait a second, maybe the lichess app has an option in settings that fixes the problem." It turns out they do! So i will play there. To my fellow chess.com accidental castlers, you are welcome.
I actually found the setting on lichess first since that’s where I play when I don’t care about eating, but this just happened to me on chess.com for the first time and it’s completely unacceptable not to have a setting for this in my opinion. This is the straw that breaks the camels back. I’ll be canceling my subscription and moving to lichess I guess.

I know that, and I don't understand why it happens; it happens too often. Cannot remember being close to the king square every time it happens. But I don't see other possibilities. But it happens so often. And it is really annoying. Am I the only one experiencing this?
This is the comment that seems odd. I've never accidentally castled, and I've never had the problem described so I can't relate to that. But what is interesting to me is that this happens "so often" and "too often". It just seems to me that having a castling opportunity and moving just the rook instead isn't something that happens often.
ok
