Yep. I have lost countless of times this way
Accidentally castling

This is a ridiculous bug
To castle we click king and two squares to the right or left. Clicking the rook after the king should not castle. Or at least it should be a setting the user can decide.
That is in the process of being changed, except for 960. I don't know if it's been released to everyone on site yet or on both the apps.

this is now fixed
[EDIT: I was mistaken and squid was right, it is available in some places and being rolled out further. Thanks for bringing it to my attention squid.]
I don't think it is. I can still click king then rook and it castles. And I can't disable that in any way, other than using drag move only.

How are you accessing the site?

Hi Martin!
www.chess.com in Edge browser. Also tested on android app. I just checked: app's up to date (version is 4.6.13-googleplay). Also went to a Private/Incognito browser window and signed in fresh. Select king then select rook (with the intention of changing the piece I want to move) results in castling.

I just signed up for the beta program and saw the notification about the new feature pop up (on browser)! Whether it was that, or just needing to wait for the update to be pushed in some other way, it's now functioning just as I'd hoped.
So glad this has been updated. THANK YOU!!!

The change is available on the website beta and a small percentage of regular members have the change right now.
It's not available on the apps and will likely roll out to most of the rest of the site over the coming weeks.
