Account Closed - Always Cheating?

So I've started playing more correspondance as of late and even have been looking at some of my past games from a while back and have noticed some people i have played have had their account closed and received the little red circle cross thing (is there a generic name for this, who knows).

What I would be interesting knowing is how often is this just down to them being found out to using an engine and how often is it down to them deciding to close their account.

I'm kinda thinking the large majority would be down to cheating as I don't see why many if any would want to close an account they play online chess on, if they're unhappy with their rating just create a new one right.

Thoughts?

Yeah I'm not sure I have much experience with clock cheats. They might well be urban myths.

People definitely blame a disconnect of either one's end on a "clock cheat" way way way too often.

I was accused of cheating with my clock in blitz a while back and I wouldn't have the slightest idea about how to do it (that is if you are even able too).

I have doubts about this being possible.

I don't remember having installed something when becoming member. This means that everything is running on the server side, and no one can access it without having got rights to do so.

The little red symbol is the sign that the account has been closed by Chess.com - usually cheating but can be for other reasons eg behaviour.

An account closed by choice does not have the symbol, when you click on the name it just says account closed.

Hope that helps
