Accusation...

I'm a 717 player going up against a 1250 player. While working out a series of moves, i'm accused of using a cheat tool because as "Shenanigns" puts it, no way a player of my rating plays him so tough.

I'm fuming mad that I would be accused of such behavior. Where I come from you had better have good proof making such an accusation or you are toast, reputation soiled! I work hard to learn and play tough games. Look at comments others make on my profile. Pride makes me want to play well and never quit. To be accused of being a cheat by a player unprepared for my game (taken lightly) is shameful.

The player Shenanigns has made such a claim, is wrong and is being called out by me here for such behavior. I live by the military honor code, no lie, cheat or steal and take such an accusation to heart. People who make accusations should be called out and a "verbal abuse" button next to the chat window should be installed so that when required, a chat capture is possible so that those disrespectful, make false claims or use racial or sexual comments can be weeded out. People trying to learn, play hard and have fun should not have to put up with disrespectful people.

No, it's obvious you weren't cheating.  (No offense intended)

You shouldn't name and shame.  Simply report the player's behavior to the staff.

Finally, even though it was rude of your opponent, view it as a compliment. Smile

I think your opponent lost his cool and forgot that a 717 player doesn't have to be a pushover. I think that it's not your problem; it's his.

Your opponent must be a complete twerp. If you'd been cheating you would have won the game. I must say I liked some of your movesSmile.

I'm cooling off now and appreciate your thoughts folks. The lesson i have learned is to turn off chat when I'm going up against much higher players. I have no idea if I would have won that game but I know my focus was lost when such an accusation was suggested. I forgot the lesson a great golfer taught. Temperment and concentration. Lose either one and you are over. Can't get high, low, too happy, too mad or lose your concentration. I got mad, lost my concentration just as the lesson teaches and my competitor got the better of me. "I want a rematch!" Thanks much folks....

Heres the chess.com steps to counter cheat accusations.

1. Get accused.

2. If account gets closed - then you cheated.

3. If your account is still in use, then you didn't cheat so take the accusations as a compliment - you outplayed your opponent.

Simple and positive way of looking at things.

LOL another whiney person. That 1200 player should play to win, not sit there...

You might re-examine the military honour code.

I apologize for calling you a cheat.  It's quite obvious that you just made a couple good moves.  As shown by who won the overall game...you really do suck as your rating implies.  Get a life.  Taking to a blog because someone said something mean??  *sniff sniff*  AND it's not slander when you only say something to one person.  Cloud here chose to tell the entire world what I said.  Lost your focus...what a lame excuse.  I'll play you again anytime but you're only going to have the same result.

When someone accuses me of cheating I take it as a compliment.

Rating is relative.

A 700-rated player "sucks" from the point of view of a 1400-rated player.

A 1400-rated player "sucks" from the point of view of a 2000-rated player.

A 2000-rated player "sucks" from the point of view of a 2400-rated player.

Shall I continue?  Claiming someone "sucks" because they have a lower rating is asinine.

A 1200 calling a 717 a terrible player?  Lol.

Shenanigns - do you know why you accused OrganicCloud of being a cheat?  It seems to happen a lot and I find it puzzling. If you are able to explain at all I will be interested.

Thanks.

It's not slander, libel or any form of defamation.

He can't hurt the guy's reputation if he only makes the statement to him.

Avatar of Scottrf

No it isn't. Look up what defamation is in a bit more depth.

Scottrf : Nice one man, you almost caught me out there. It's posted on a public forum, so we all witnessed it.

Legal nightmare ahead.

It's posted on a public forum by the person accused, not by the person who made the accusation.

Nothing to see here.
