Adjust volume

Sort:
Novelty-Move

Hi,

I have looked all over the site and can't find it but I'm trying to adjust the volume of pieces moving when you're playing?

On some other sites it's super duper easy.

What about chess. com????

Is it also easy to adjust the volume here?

Seems to be either off or on.

Really????

Novelty-Move

Anyone????

I adjust the volume on my desktop or my IPad I play chess on.
Novelty-Move

I understand. This is very easy to do and something anyone does all day long.

However to be able to match the chess. com volume to other system volume on your computer, I'm playing on a computer, would not only be GREAT but is also a logical thing to have as an option.

I must say chess. com is quite underwhelming compared to other serious chess playing websites.

And this is the largest one out there.

Yeah, it seems just absurd that this isn't an option.

Novelty-Move

Yes it really is absurd.

Just look at some other sites.

Much less budget and they can still implement volume buttons in their product.

Please note that Chess.com policy does not permit explicit comparisons with our competitors in our own forums, so I have removed those specific references.

I have also moved this topic to Site Feedback & Suggestions, where it might be seen and considered: you could also use the Help --> Make A Suggestion, as that will also log the suggestion with our development team.

Cheers,

What????? LOL......

David is quite common among Jews and non-Jews. Why does this have to get this way dude? lol

No need to be ugly about it.

I just want to know how I can turn up or down the volume on Chess. com it self.

Not my computer, I'm fully aware of how to do that, but an actual volume button on the site would be great.

I know I can't mention a specific competitor ("...does not permit explicit comparisons with our competitors...")

so let me just say that all the competitors have a volume button as part of quick access buttons.

Boccaro

I agree. It's absolutely rediculous that the volume can't be adjusted on the site.

EaglePerch

no volume adjustment?  this is a problem

Yes it is.

Adding features without options is not good.
Just having the developers decide how loud I want something is pretty out there.

I just did that, but I wonder why the developers don't read the site-feedback forum. Isn't that the sole purpose of a feedback forum? This thread has been there for 2½ years and there is still no volume slider. I can't imagine any technical reason not to implement that feature, and even if such a reason existed, it should be possible to explain that reason here in this thread. Discussion between users and developers is normal on all bugtracking websites, and this forum can be used in the same way. Discussion is the most efficient way to improve a site, as it allows bad ideas to be sorted out and good ideas to be eleborated. I don't know what the deleted comparison with other sites looked like, but such a comparison can be used too to improve this site and to keep it competitive. If a comparison is censored and desired features are not implemented, users will sooner or migrate anyway to sites that offer these features, and such a silent migration is much worse for the chess.com owners than any open discussion could ever be. Losing customers without knowing why is one of the worst things that can happen to a company. Popular chess playing sites have come and gone, and this fate can happen to chess.com too if it ignores what its competitors are doing.

Well said ViennaCaver,

Chess. com doesn't listen unless you're either a well known GM or there's a HUGE amount of people asking for the same thing.
Then you'll get their attention.

This sort of thing with just a few posts doesn't mean anything to them. But hey at least we got the cute little emojis and the useless chess sounds...oh and those weird knight arrows....oh my.

Anyway, I like it here, they do enough things right.
Just wish they did the volume stuff and had regular, straight, arrows for knight moves.

NITYANANDA_GAURANGA

So are the Chess.com team still working on this issue? or is it resolved?

CautiousJoshous

Would love for this feature to be added as well, seems like a trivial thing that should have been available long ago

Luxferre

Good point!

IHaveATradingModel

it's ridiculous. one simple much needed feature but the developers didn't even care to think about?!

CautiousJoshous

I doubt the problem is with the developers and more likely the product managers assigning them work
