Many people including grandmasters, like castling in the game. Moreover, many chess books or lessons stated that castling is very important in chess and even pointed out that one of the mistake in chess is not to castling. However, there are several disadvantage of castling, especially if the opponent moved tha pieces to one side and hope you castled so that he can make a huge attack. Also, if the opponent exchanged most pieces and leave out king-pawn endgame, and that you have castled previously but the opponent had not castled, than your opponent will have a better winning chance as he can move to central board with fewer moves.

One of my typical game to make make use of opponent castling to make king side wing attack. The opponent castled in the eigth moves and this is the biggest mistake in this game. In my 14th move, the opponent will either being checkmated or come up in a very weak position.

Castling is usually almost always situational for me. Some opening systems it’s actually safer for king to be near center (London System comes to mind).

Invalid game. I was literally clicking from tab-to-tab browsing forum posts while playing 1 min. Pleas chix out my other games against Slim Shaedy there and you'll see what's up when I'm actually playing with attention.

An ancient Assyrian proverb goes "Poor trolls use poor excuses".

Do you think it's still valid, sir?

when you castle you tell an observant opponent where your king is for most of the game , it will make your castles stronger though , so you got to weigh things up I guess , will castling help you or set you up for getting attacked ,

castling is something that is almost always the best thing to do as early as possible. the only real exception is in bullet chess where people pawn storm hoping you will castle so they can get an advantage. tactics like that don't work in longer time controls because the opening is poor and lacking skill, it is reliant on someone not having enough time to spot the weakness in a pawn storm.

For those replied above, they had not answered how castling would bring advantage in the above demonstrated game. Black castled in the eighth move but in the 14th move, the game was essentially over as white already seize the h file and black's left rook and bishop could not reach to defend king's side. White's brilliant set pieces punish black's castling tatics. Remember queens pawn chigorin variation always punish black castling on king side in early moves. The main reason is that black cannot make good moves to defend h file.
