I'm gonna focus on chess this summer.

What should be my goals? and What should I do to improve?

Thx

I think the best strategy is to take a step back and realize how high a rating you have and stop playing so you can keep it.

Set a rating goal. Then use puzzles, lessons, and opening studies to reach it.

I don't have a high rating, I don't care about it either. Only thing I wanna do is improve and have fun.

You could go for 1800 probably.

Do you mean 1800 Rapid?

you shouldnt focus on rating at all, just analyse your games and see where you are most often going wrong, then study whatever it is that you notice your doing wrong

JBarryChess

What's with all the 1 move losses? Something's not right here.

They were daily matches and my holiday finished so they all timed out basically

For me at least, i like to set rating goals for myself, whether it be on puzzle rush, blitz etc. Actually setting goals and seeking to achieve them, even if i fall short, i get better. At your level, puzzles, and analysing your games are what in my opinion will help you improve the fastest, that and playing a lot of games.

You can starts with tactics, and then with more tactics, and at the end have tactics for dessert. Noting else matters at your current level.

Good plan.

Don't waste your time studying openings.

Study endgames (especially K+P's vs K+P's and K+R+P's vs K+R+P's). Study typical Pawn formations in the center (eg: Jump formation, Blitz formations, Wedges, Chains, Levers, etc). Study model mates (corridor, smothered, epaulette, Morphy's, Damiano's, Lolli, Greco, Anderssen's, Blackburne's, Boden's. Legal's, and so on). Review all of your lost games, without using computer assistance.

Study rook and pawn endgames the most. I have mastered them, and so I have won most of my games that have them.

Surf1k

Thx, I'll study those

BigChessplayer665

I think you should focus on endgames

Also 1600s get lost in rapid in the opening by move 10 so I think you should get better at that

But mostly those endgames and tactics (ex checks, captors, attacks )!

just learn new openings or just get your rating higher

Endgames also good

I would recommend learning about pawn structures knowing what positions to look for is super helpful
