Hello everyone on July 10th I'm most likely going to play in my first OTB tournament and was wondering if anyone had any advice?

The most important advice for any beginner  is "use your time well".

Get a good night's sleep before you go, eat a decent breakfast and make sure you're hydrated - it helps with concentration. Brush up on some tactics the morning of the event and, most of all, enjoy yourself.

Funny enough, I find that being too hydrated ruins my concentration. I try to avoid drinking water during a chess game.

never played in a OTB tourney but probably just practise and practise and practise

Mostly just try to be relaxed, since OTB tourneys can be quite stressful.

Thank you everyone so much for the advice! I will have to keep everything in mind and it should be a fun experience!

Practice, study what your opponent plays and just don't stress. I'm not sure if this could help but not too long ago GothamChess was posting when he was in a tournament in Vegas, you may be able to get an idea of it. And just have fun 🙂
