Age of world champs.

I asked this question in a different chess forum but didnt get much of a response.

 Im interested in the age of the top level players.Wouldnt you think that the best players would be the oldest, therefore the wisest?

People may say that the human brain isnt as sharp at say, 80 as at 25, but I mean why arnt the world champs 50 or 60?

Players seem to peak in their 20s or 30s.  Both recall and the ability to calculate decline with age, often noticeably in your 40s.

Chess is 99% tactics, and that's why increased "wisdom" doesn't usually compensate for a decline in tactical skills.  Though there are exceptional chessplayers, like Korchnoi, who remain strong through their 40s and 50s.
