Aimchess, chessable, which is worth it?

Hello,

I was just wondering if buying a subscription to a website such as aimchess or chessable is worth it to improve. And if it is, which website to you think is a better deal? (It doesn't have to be limited to either of the websites I listed)

Thanks!

Most anything chess related can be worth it if you devote dedicated effort to using it. The problem is many try to improve passively. I myself don’t subscribe to things because I know I can get most anything I need for free if I spend some time researching or putting a little effort into it. Active learning is always best.

ChessAble has some great ideas and content. Some is free. If you like the free content then I’m sure their paid content will be equal or better. You should have a good idea if you’ll enjoy paying for the content on there or not prior to doing so.

I will say this, at your level there are tons of free options to get information and practice that’ll improve your game probably as well as any paid service outside of direct coaching; which is my next thing, if you have money to put towards chess and willing to dedicate effort with it, I strongly recommend an actual coach, a weekly, bi weekly or even monthly lesson with a good coach could accelerate your chess improvement if you’re actively dedicated to learning chess.

Have a great chess adventure!

Your question is two years old. Nevertheless an answer.
I had not played competition for about 4 years. Due to work and Covid. A year ago I started again at my club (near The Hague, Holland). I also started searching for options on the internet (courses, dvd's, videos and so on) to 'get back in the game' on a reasonable amateur level.
Everything I tried had its charm and favor. Chessable I did not like completely and most courses were (much) to expensive in my opinion. In the end I landed at Aimchess.com (although I had never heard about it) and liked it a lot, because: a) subscribing for a year is not expensive b) it makes excellent use of the games you play(ed) yourself at Chess.com / Lichess / Chess24 c) courses are personalized on your own level and style d) many aspects in the training e) extra training options for things you want to train better f) no personal dogma's from human trainers, it is all AI based.
Of course you can try Aimchess ( cheap for a month ) first to see if you like it.
