Am I a coward?

I played a game recently(pgn down below) that I started with a typical Vienna I would say, I like the variation of bringing my queen out first a lot(because I’m a 700 duh) and my opponent responded by also bring his queen out, basically forcing me to take it, which I did.

After that, he immediately responded by offering a draw, which I confusingly declined. Then he basically just started cussing me as a coward(specifically cowardly girl, kind of sexist I gotta say) and kinda start throwing. As in the end, I basically have +9 material and start to promoting pieces and he resign.

After the game, he DM me and said”I do not play with a coward who first wants to play without a queen, and then, like a little cowardly girl, runs to make a queen.
so I offered a draw.
Because I hate playing with such a person. For me, such a player is not a person at all.”

My defense was this: if he really don’t want to play queen-less middle game, then maybe don’t offer a queen trade, which taking the queen was the best move. I was only playing what I think was the best move, which I think is somewhat of a sportsmanship.

Nevertheless, am I a coward or this is just a normal decision?

I thought it was the opposite usually opponents who try to force draws are cowards

BigChessplayer665

At my level a lot of people are nice if you missclick but it depends on he person some like to resign other alike to ask for a draw that's fine but swearing at your opponent is not

Nice.

There's nothing cowardly about trading queens. I'll trade queens if it's a good move. I'll avoid it if it's a bad move. Courage or cowardice isn't part of the equation.

As you correctly said in your post, if your opponent didn't want queens off the board, he shouldn't have invited a trade.

And the after-game message was just your opponent being angry about losing.

randomchessguy555

Sounds like he's got a skill issue

U did nothing wrong

I got called racist for having the name blackpanther

If you do something that is good for you and uncomfortable to your opponent, then you are playing chess correctly
randomchessguy555

Yep. And how are you a coward if you keep playing? Wouldn't a coward accept the draw? In the end HE's the coward, as he's scared of playing somebody who plays an opening he isn't good at.

None of this seems normal to me.

But then this is chess.com

I agree with borovicka75(look up)

Quite true, great players would rather give up a piece rather than allowing a queen trade
