Am I about to get reality checked 10 different ways?
I just looked at a few of your recent games. You probably quit doing what most low-rated players do - break opening principles, mainly not developing fast enough and instead waste time moving same piece around. Your openings look clean. Now it seems you just make a few middle-game mistakes with simple blunders. Clean that up, and you'll be well over 1000 in no time. Well done sir.
But yes, when you start working on your chess you will experience some “newbie gains” before your rapid success starts to plateau.
Happens to many of us, it is common.
Enjoy them while they last, I did not appreciate them until they ceased. :)
I went from 540 to over 840 in a matter of 2 weeks and I honestly have no idea how. I do my puzzles and lessons and stuff and I've practiced checkmates too, but I'm still wondering... is it all luck? Is everyone in the 700-800s just... bad? Was I bad and stopped... being bad without realizing?
I just have no idea why it was such a breeze to get here. I was struggling like hell to break free of the 600s a month ago and now I'm just soaring. Someone explain?
