Former World Chess Champion Vishy Anand once lost a Knight and resigned on move 6, in a tournament game.

Does that mean that he's garbage at chess?

Yes but it very much hurts. If you wanna pass like 1600 you've to practise beating people above them which I can't do consistently

You wouldn't be able to do it consistently unless you were 1800+ because there are plenty of people rated, say, 1620 who are capable of beating a 1750 if they're playing well.

Look, nobody said that it was easy to win in chess. Losing always hurts, but it's also the only way to get better. No matter how hard you got beaten, you need to stop wondering WHY you lost, and look to HOW you can win.

Just answer me to the question.

Who plays chess better, the one who plays 1 year or the one who plays 10 years? Experience is important and that's what allows you to win. Experience and talent, yes. And so it was in the 20th century. But in the 21st century, His Majesty's computer program has made EVERYONE equal. Yes, i agree that it's hard to win, but hints make it easy, very easy. This is an easy way and it is available to everyone.

Everyone has a terrible day. You just aren't special in that regard. So dust yourself off and get back at it after a period of rest and reorganization.

He sounds like the kind of typical numbskull on this site who thinks he's funny but has no idea how childish he comes across.

One of the hardest aspects of chess it to try to defend accurately and actively while under heavy enemy attack. Almost anyone can play well when things are going smoothly for them.

I doubt it. Daily is the closest to otb you can get. If your using the analysis board or opening hints consistently. As well as thinking about the position for 15+ mins. It can give a little bit of a false rating vs otb. I’m no where near your rating but mine has been steadily climbing. I just had my first rated otb game. I won against a player who was rated about 200 points higher than I’m rated on here and won.

It’s hard to go by the ratings on here.

Chess is a lifetime hobby. Time is on your side. If you actually learn things from your losses you're making progress.

I used to be stuck around 1300 up till around two years ago. Up till then, I relied almost purely on intuition and never took time to take the game seriously. I did well in some National events, and was in contention for top 100 for my age, but I never really made any progress. Chess really was more of some careless hobby that I'd play ever so often. However, halfway through quarantine, I stumbled across some old chess articles I had scattered around my room. I read through some of the chess articles, and that passion that was ignited so long ago when I was first learning the game was invigorated. I had decided that I'd actually try to study chess for the first time in my life.

Keep in mind I was around 1600 blitz online when I started to pick chess back up again. I studied like a madman. I never did so much to as pick up a book (god forbid books) but I watched videos, solved puzzles, played some rapid games, and looked through and tried to improve my weaknesses. Of course, even then I did not play as many games as I do now, but I still got that exposure that I was missing before. Slowly, I started to piece together ideas, and those ideas formed concepts, of which I was able to apply in-game.

Chances are, you're young and you have plenty of opportunity to become a great chess player. Don't shun temporary failure, and look at the big picture and look at all the success you've achieved. The fact you're on this site means that you're seriously into chess. Once you're hooked, you're already a GM wink.png
